IKEA Presents SKOGSDUVA Children's Collection Bringing Children's Imagination of Forests and Wildlife to Life

| General news
Jakarta, October 31, 2024 – IKEA launches SKOGSDUVA, a new children's collection inspired by the charm of the Swedish forest wonderland. This collection features 20 educational, inspiring, and practical children's products to help build children's confidence and joy in their daily routines.

The SKOGSDUVA collection includes bed sheets, bed covers, pillowcases, storage boxes, and soft toys inspired by Swedish wildlife, including animals, insects, and plants. With SKOGSDUVA, IKEA aspires for children to explore nature and imagine these animals living in their bedrooms.

The SKOGSDUVA collection is inspired by nature in the Swedish forest. IKEA designer Malin Gyllensvaan found inspiration from her childhood when she created an imaginary world in the wild where various animals lived. "With SKOGSDUVA, IKEA wants children to explore nature and feel that they can imagine as if these animals were in their room. Not only during playtime but also as a part of their daily lives because the SKOGSDUVA collection inspires kids to incorporate play in their daily routines such as illustrative blankets for bedtime stories,'' said Ririn Basuki, Communication & PR Manager IKEA Indonesia.

SKOGSDUVA brings children's imagination to life in the bedroom
The latest IKEA Play Report 2024 shows that only 51% of children are satisfied with the amount of time they have to play, while 54% of parents want to have more time to play with their children at home. Because home is where families spend most of their time together and build closer relationships, it plays an important role in creating interactions between parents and children.

Convincing parents to let their children sleep in their own rooms can be challenging. If sleeping with parents is no longer sufficient for the child's sleep needs and disrupts the family's quality of life, introducing the concept of independent sleep to the child may be considered.

"From a medical perspective, sleep is one of the main pillars of children's health. Good sleep supports optimal child growth hormones and increases children's focus when performing daily activities. In addition, getting children used to sleeping alone in their room has many benefits for children's mental well-being. Creating a safe and comfortable environment by letting them sleep alone in their room will help children grow in self-confidence so that children can be braver in facing new and unfamiliar situations," said dr. Celestina Hendrawan-Yap, M.Res, founder of MimpiOfficial.id.

When children start learning to sleep alone in a separate room, one easy way that parents can make children comfortable resting or playing in the room is to give children the freedom to choose the equipment and decoration of the room according to their wishes.

“Involve children to choose items or decorations for their rooms. For example, provide bed covers and pillowcases with pictures of their favourite characters and animals, so that it can boost their joy and enthusiasm to sleep alone. The presence of soft toys can also make the room atmosphere more fun and encourage children to imagine before going to bed," explained dr. Inda Tasha Bastaman, M.Res., founder of MimpiOfficial.id.

Therefore, SKOGSDUVA is here to instill play and joy in the family's daily routine, including when it is time for children to sleep. Combining the concept of play and bedtime stories will make the room atmosphere more fun so that children will feel more comfortable sleeping in their room.

“IKEA continues to explore and develop play solutions and inspirations that can be done at home. At IKEA, we know that the best way for children to learn, develop, and grow is through play,'' said Ririn Basuki.

Inspired by Children's Imaginary World of Animals
Inspired by children's imaginary world in the wild where various animals live, with the SKOGSDUVA collection, IKEA aspires to raise awareness of endangered animals which was the inspiration for this collection.

"The products in the SKOGSDUVA collection are designed so that children can be interested in learning about animals and their habits in a fun way. We hope that these products will enhance children's enthusiasm and desire to learn more about nature and animals," explained Windy Cornelia, Sales Leader IKEA Indonesia.

The uniqueness of the SKOGSDUVA collection can be seen in the bed sheet illustrations showing wild animals in the wild and storage bags with animals hibernating in the forest. Another example is the hedgehog soft toy. When hedgehogs feel threatened, they raise their sharp spines and turn into prickly, round balls to protect their soft bellies. The SKOGSDUVA hedgehog soft toy can also turn into a ball with the help of a touch-and-close fastening on its belly.

By launching the SKOGSDUVA collection, IKEA would like to inspire families to create more enjoyable daily routines at home for children and parents by including games and bedtime stories about animals. "The products in this limited collection are expected to inspire bedtime stories for children so that bedtime can be something they look forward to,'' said Ririn Basuki, Communication & PR Manager of IKEA Indonesia.

The SKOGSDUVA collection will be available at all IKEA stores in Indonesia starting November 1, 2024. For more information, visit the official website IKEA.co.id and the official social media channel @ikea_id.
