IKEA collaborates with Marimekko to launch BASTUA collection

Jakarta, 11 May 2023 - IKEA and Marimekko, a Finnish design house, collaborated on the BASTUA limited collection, which was inspired by nature, wellness, and Nordic self-care rituals. BASTUA's limited collection comprises 26 products that stress bold and attractive patterns that symbolize nature and the environment surrounding the sauna, consisting of furniture, glassware, and textiles. This limited BASTUA collection will be offered only at IKEA Mall Taman Anggrek Jakarta, IKEA Kota Baru Parahyangan Bandung, and IKEA Surabaya stores starting 11 May 2023.
The term "BASTUA" is used to describe a sauna in Småland, the region in Southern Sweden where IKEA was founded. Fitness and self-care are both important for our physical and mental well-being. BASTUA's limited collection is inspired by Nordic self-care practices and saunas. This collection is intended to help us unwind after a long day of activities, namely through practicing self-care.
The limited edition BASTUA collection combines IKEA's home furnishing expertise with Marimekko's signature pattern design. This partnership captures the essence of summer as well as the beauty of simple and esthetic Nordic nature on home furnishings and accessories.
"IKEA and Marimekko are a perfect match because they both have Nordic heritage and a vision to reflect the strong Nordic spirit and provide the opportunity to live a healthy and cheerful life. This collaboration with Marimekko is a natural choice for IKEA because both of them have a strong determination to create a better everyday life at home," said Ririn Basuki, Communications & PR Manager IKEA Indonesia.
This collaboration conveys the summer vibe and uncomplicated Nordic natural beauty through furniture and home accessories. This is the first time Marimekko has created a custom collection of motifs for a collaboration, making it genuinely one-of-a-kind.
BASTUA's limited collection includes four unique motifs in a variety of colors with range of furniture, glassware, and textiles with bright motifs inspire you to live boldly, happily, and healthily.
The products in BASTUA's limited range are influenced by Nordic furniture design. "Nordic furniture design has always been distinguished by bold lines and simple construction focused on function. The BASTUA side table is one piece of furniture that follows to this design approach," Ririn Basuki added.
BASTUA's limited collection also includes a sturdy but stylish hardwood bench, ideal for enjoying a moment of solitude after a day of activities.
The big rhubarb leaves that grow alongside saunas in Finland inspired one of the focus points of the BASTUA limited collection design. This leaf motif appears on a variety of goods, including the iconic FRAKTA bag.
Aside from FRAKTA bags, the limited BASTUA collection includes a variety of self-care products such as toiletries (bathrobes, towels, aromatherapy candles, and sauna buckets), side tables, and wooden stools with a classic and sturdy but stylish design.
A soft seat cushion for relaxing on the floor is another product that may be utilized to accompany us when eating snacks. Aside from that, we can light BASTUA candles scented with elderflower, rhubarb, and sweet vanilla.
